Diagnostics

After installing Sun Java System Active Server Pages, you can use the following diagnostic applications to make sure the ASP Server is functioning correctly.

General Diagnostics:

  • HELLO - Tests the functionality of ASP and VBScript by using a simple "Hello World" script.
  • SERVER - Tests the ASP Server-to-Web server connection by retrieving the standard Web server variables.
  • JSCRIPT - Tests the functionality of JScript.

Additional Components:

  • COMPONENTS - Tests the functionality of additional components installed with Sun Java System Active Server Pages.

Database Diagnostics:

  • ADO - Accesses ActiveX Data Objects (ADO) from VBScript. This application connects to a sample database by using Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) to test the functionality of ADO and the ODBC driver.
  • JSADO - Performs the same test as ADO, but accesses ADO from JScript rather than VBScript.
  • SQLEXECUTE - Uses ADO to execute an SQL statement and display the results. To use this application, you must first create a system DSN for your database on the ASP Server. See the topic "Adding a DSN" in the product documentation. Go to Configuring a Database > Configuring Data Source Names (DSNs) > Adding a DSN.
